Does anyone have travel advice for Sebastian and his girlfriend?

mareen:

Sebastian Waters:

We’re going to visit Stockholm from August 6th for a couple of days, but are still looking for accommodation and some tips and hints for must-see places. Drop me a line via mail (see in the sidebar).

You might want to check out the official tourist site Stockholmtown.com. Depending on your budget, you could choose between a hotel (cheaper rates during the summer!) or a youth hostel. Swedish hostels generally hold a more than acceptable quality and getting a seperate room for two should be possible. The Stockholmtown page also has a very convenient booking system for hotels.

Must-sees depend on your interests. If you are into design, places like Moderna Museet/Arkitekturmuseum and also Nationalmuseum could be of interest. Also Nordiska Museet and of cause Skansen.

Söder is the place for the arty alternative community.

But why not also get a glimpse of everyday Stockholm life and head for the suburbs - yes, they are concrete and have a big immigrant population but a place like Vällingby is almost mythical among Swedish urban planners.

I don’t know his budget, but this is a great website for boutique hotels.
